So, about a week ago I won one of 's 'guess the gag' competitions and won a free commission (which will appear in an upcoming comic/check Grumpy's gallery). Anyway, I ended up beating by 7 minutes, who was very disappointed that he didn't get to see Grumpy draw his commission. So I made it instead.
Anwyay - it was quite the rush job, so I apologise for the abundent errors, dodgy plastic hair, floating people, and everything else I haven't noticed yet. Also, yes this character does appear to be the cousin of the guy in Illuminated Requests. That's just a coincidence. Hope you enjoy.
Edit: This just became my deviation with the most favs. In less than two days.
Looks like I might have to do these short and sweet (read: hot girls) comics more often.
Also... I looked for naked pictures of me on Google... long story short, nothing happened. I want a refund! >-<
Sucks to hear about your uni work re-submit. Hopefully I can release some more things soon to keep your mind off it. Same thing happened to my friend last year - twice. She was that much happier when she handed the last one in.
Anyway - looks like I'll be releasing these 'popular' mini-comics in between the big ones, so stay tuned (eventually).
Cheers. Yeah - everyone seems to love the hair.
Just had a look at your gallery - looking good.
Just a coincidence that you have the same name. Unless you are now a porn star?
Man I miss DAZ, heh.
There's nothing in the scene, of course it was clear.
Daz misses you too, but I think you just need to give her some space. Let things cool off for a while. Things were getting pretty serious there at the end.
And funny you should say that, tech support just got back to me with a promising lead. A plugin that Daz doesn't like so much--now just to figure out which one...
And yes, all renders require good lighting. Glossy items, glass, liquid, mirrors (!!!), all drastically increase the render time and create a lot of render noise. I'm currently working on two comics - one I've lit really well (one light + a reflector) and it renders to 5K in a couple of hours, the other is an interior with 76 light sources, bounce-surfaces everywhere, lights IN glass, and overly shiny people. That one... takes a while... (though I'm now making 5k minimum for comics to get the quality up).
Hopefully you find the plugin soon. Like in the next hour. And release another sequence by this afternoon. I'll check back then.
As a whole the comic is a very sweet piece of work.
Still... Sam-antha needs to be extra careful with the door or she may smash the light that is stuck on the wall
Other than that the room could just use a bit more clutter to look less sterile and empty. But that would just add to the rendering time and the room is not the main focus of the comic anyway so no biggie... But it could be a nice touch to see the Sam's stuff turn into a Samantha's stuff as she changes... But don't worry that is just the part of me that cares about the unimportant details rambling here...
That was in the original 'draft', but I only allowed myself one lunch-break to make this (I get long lunch breaks , but I was going to have gamer posters turn into adult awards, dvd covers and the like.
And the door has a wall behind it, so I don't think they actually every open it.
And the hair was only a last-minute thing so you could see the tattoo better.
Anyway... back to 'real' comics, which have WAY too much background clutter (more RAM, more RAM...)
Nice to see you continuing on with the 3d
Better lighting setup and less clutter = comic is at 5k samples/pixel (both new comics are running to at least that as well, so should look good). The ballet scene in Lauren and Sarah 2 barely made it to 2k samples. And it took forever with those mirrors!
Ah... will check next time I'm at home. It doesn't have proper displacement (hence the flat-plastic look), so it was probably cheap.
And cheers. Compared to the epic lighting on the two comics I'm working on, this was quite pleasant to do.
